INS/GPS

Systron Donner’s high performance Quartz MEMS Inertial Measurement Units provide the foundation for integration with industry’s leading high performance Coarse/Acquisition code (C/A) global positioning systems and system electronics to provide a series of robust, completely self-contained INS/GPS systems. Coupled precisely with their respective counterparts, these systems offer a synergistically powerful Guidance, Navigational and Control (GN&C) system for a myriad of military, commercial and industrial applications. Capable of virtual, stand-alone systems operation, they are well suited for use by Integrators and OEMs.

IMUs

Supported by SDI’s reputation as a leading systems provider and offering trusted integrator solutions for tactical military and demanding commercial applications, our advanced family of Inertial Measurement Units (IMU) is designed to provide full Six Degree of Freedom (6DoF) motion sensing, creating a proven solution for instrumentation, control and navigational systems. These innovative IMUs feature SDI’s proven Quartz MEMS technology, including the latest breakthrough in true tactical grade performance with 1°/hr. bias stability and ultra low (0.02°/√hr.) angle random walk values in our SDI500 Series. Across all units, improvements in low power and unit miniaturization, including a unique, solid-state tuning fork design for superior, “one-piece” (no moving parts) performance, provide a true system solution and designer’s choice for superior performance.

Multi Axis Sensors

Inertial Sensing systems typically measure the inertial forces produced during the rotation and acceleration of an object about the X, Y and Z axes (3DoF). Systron Donner’s enhanced systems in this area combine MEMS gyroscopes coupled with other sensors capable of measuring six degrees of freedom (6DoF), which includes measuring X, Y and Z position and pitch, yaw and roll movements simultaneously. Capable of offering full turnkey multi-sensor capabilities, SDI inertial sensing systems provide high reliability, lightweight systems solutions to these disciplines with a suite of products designed to balance performance and the latest technology to answer a wide array of applications. Used as a stand-alone system themselves, or serving as a key component of a larger system, SDI products offer a true choice for the Integrator and OEM.

Gyroscopes

Gyroscopes produce a signal output proportional to the rate of rotation of the surface to which attached in a given direction. They can be used individually for X-axis (or YAW) measurements or in multiple units for multi-axis rotational change detection. On-going advancements in our MEMS-based technology has enabled these devices to offer excellent performance including low power and miniature size.

Offering enhanced benefits for use across a wide spectrum of applications, several models capable of serving as systems themselves, particularly for use by Integrators and OEMs, SDI’s comprehensive family of single-axis sensors all feature solid-state (gyro on a chip), micromachined MEMS quartz technology with their own self-contained electronics for enhanced performance. Inherent features include low noise, miniature size, wide bandwidth and temperature ranges, and high reliability (no moving parts).

INS/GPS

SDI's most advanced GPS/INS Tactical Grade System. The compact SDN500 combines latest generation quartz gyros, quartz accelerometers, high speed signal processing and a 48-channel Coarse/Acquisition (C/A) Code GPS receiver into a powerful, tightly coupled Guidance and Navigation System. There is also an option to utilize a Selective Availability Anti-spoofing Module (SAASM) GPS receiver. The versatile tactical grade system delivers a reliable 3.9 meter Spherical Error Probable (SEP) GPS-aided accuracy. SDI’s proprietary Quartz MEMS Inertial Sensors maintain position and attitude accuracy in the event of loss of GPS tracking. The low power SDN500 is designed for integrator and OEM use in the latest demanding smaller, more scalable system applications. The SDN500 is an ideal solution for critical applications in such areas as geo-surveying, unmanned air and ground vehicles, precision targeting and positioning, and enables excellent system solutions in demanding commercial applications.

 

The MMQG IMU offers an unique system solution for a broad range of Guidance, Navigation and Control (GN&C) applications, combining SDI’s Digital Quartz MMQ50 IMU, with integrated MEMS quartz rate sensors and vibrating quartz accelerometers, with the Jupiter® PICO commercial Global Positioning System (GPS) receiver and tightly coupled with Jupiter’s 12-channel Coarse/Acquisition (C/A) Code GPS engine. This miniature yet robust, solid-state unit offers a totally self-contained system with internal diagnostic software that is compact, lightweight and easily programmable.

IMUs

The SDI510 is a platform extension of SDI’s proven, tactical grade SDI500 MEMS IMU.  The SDI510 IMU integrates SDI’s latest generation quartz gyros, quartz accelerometers and high speed digital signal processing a compelling solution, for 8” to 12” gimbal systems, with high bandwidth (user selectable phase/gain options) and low 150 µsec data latency, extremely low 0.012°/√hr. angle random walk noise, excellent <1.0°/hr. gyro bias and synch input / output capability for accurate signal timing to/from host controller.  Combined with the 3200Hz gyro and 400Hz V/ DV SDLC data frame rates, the SDI510 is the only IMU with the unique ability to provide compensated rate signals for the inner gimbal loop stabilization.  Optimized for EO/IR stabilization platforms, the SDI510 IMU delivers a clear SWaPC advantage over alternative technologies.

 

Leveraging industry’s leading MEMS technology to provide previously unheard of capabilities in angle random walk values (0.02°/√hr.) without loss of tactical grade levels across military environments, including 1°/hr. bias stability, the SDI500 is designed to achieve the demanding performance levels required in sophisticated systems applications. It is particularly suited for use by Integrators and OEMs, packaged in a highly miniaturized, cylindrical configuration with a volume of only 19 cubic inches. Boasting a 20-Year lifetime capability without requiring calibration and a MTBF of more than 25,000 hours, multiple output data formats and SDLC, RS232 and UART output interfaces are provided in this revolutionary IMU for optimized systems protocols.
Fully functional as a Quartz MEMS-based 6DoF IMU, the MMQA provides an unprecedented Roll, Pitch and Heading angle solution in varying dynamic conditions. It’s a natural system-based solution for Integrators and OEMs to use to answer a host of demanding applications. Quartz MEMS IMU accelerometers stabilize pitch and roll, while heading is stabilized with an external tri-axis magnetometer. Demanding TSO-C4c and TSO-C6D Heading performance standards are readily met with edge-of-technology MEMS rate sensor performance. Data outputs are user-configurable with Built-In-Test (BIT) multi-parameter revolving word output, with system information output including version string. Versatile yet compactly packaged, lightweight, and operates at low power consumption.
The latest quartz MEMS technology is applied to this versatile Vertical Gyro IMU, featuring full Six Degree of Freedom (6DoF) capability in an extremely lightweight, compact design, capable of operating at low power consumption levels. It meets TSO-C4c Bank and Pitch angle requirements, while operating at low noise with excellent bias stability. These characteristics make the MMQVG an ideal answer for integrators and OEMs across a myriad of applications. Data outputs are user-configurable at various sample rates with extremely low output rate jitter, with easy to understand data formats containing six sensor outputs, angle outputs, a Built-In-Test (BIT) word output, and multi-parameter revolving word output, including version string for complete system information.
The MMQ50 combines solid-state MEMs quartz inertial rate sensors and silicon MEMs accelerometers in an Inertial Measurement Unit ideally suited for high-performance embedded systems applications. A compact answer for complete yet simplified systems integration, the MMG50 provides unparalleled performance including full six degrees of freedom (6DoF) functionality and reliability, with extraordinary price and value. The MMQ50 exhibits bias stability less than 10º/hour, with excellent angle random walk characteristics below 0.15º√hour while operating in robust environmental conditions.

Multi-Axis Inertial Sensing System

With one of industry’s smallest form factors, QRS28 couples two of SDI’s robust quartz MEMS rate sensors for unprecedented capabilities in wide bandwidth, repeatable bias performance over temperature and ruggedness in most environments. It is especially suited for demanding applications, which require reliable performance, such as missile seeker gimbal stabilization, where small size and low power consumption is required, while in a low cost design that is also ideally suited for high volume commercial applications.
Coupling three SDI solid-state MEMS angular rate sensors with three high performance linear accelerometers, MotionPak® introduces a true Six Degree of Freedom (6DoF), fully self-contained inertial sensing system in a compact, rugged package with its own power regulation and signal conditioning electronics, ideally suited for extremely accurate measuring of linear accelerations and angular rates in a variety of instrumentation and control applications.

Gyroscopes

The SDD3000 is SDI’s high performance, digital, single-axis gyroscope. Incorporating an advanced Quartz MEMS sensing element, it is optimized for applications that require low noise and excellent stability over changes in temperature and through vibration. SDI’s proprietary Quartz MEMS technology delivers high reliability and a low total cost of ownership, with no wear-out modes or required calibration intervals. Boasting a small size, light weight and very low power consumption, the SDD3000 is truly a leader in its performance class.

 

The SDD3000 combines our most advanced sensing element with state-of-the-art digital signal processing (DSP) technology, yielding superior performance through even the most demanding conditions. Delivering unprecedented low Angle Random Walk values (output noise) and class-leading stability among MEMS gyros, the SDD3000 is an ideal solution for stabilization, precision pointing applications, instrumentation, motion sensing and GPS/AHRS integrations.

 

The SDD3000 outputs angular rate and BIT data continuously upon the application of power, with no user input or start command required. Offered with two standard connection protocols (RS-232 or RS-422) and data rates (600 HZ or 100 Hz), the SDD3000 can be easily integrated into any system. Excellent stability over temperature and turn-on-to-turn-on bias repeatability over extended periods of use make the SDD3000 particularly well-suited for many stabilization and instrumentation roles. 

The QRS116 utilizes an advanced Quartz MEMS inertial sensing element which delivers ground-breaking levels of low angle random walk, bias stability and vibration performance. The QRS116 is a compact angular rate sensor ideally suited for applications in tactical, aerospace and mission-critical instrumentation.

The QRS116 features exceptionally low noise, fast start-up, and a simple electrical interface, the QRS116 has no moving parts ensuring long service life and high MTBF.

The QRS11 is a compact, lightweight design, that features Quartz MEMS technology providing a solid-state gyro offering virtually unlimited life. The QRS11’s combination of high performance and long life makes it well suited for OEM’s and system integrators designing cost effective, high performance systems.

The QRS11 requires only DC voltage inputs to provide reliable, extremely accurate angular rate measurements with the benefit of no moving parts. With a hermetically sealed sensing element, the QRS11 has provided reliable performance in aircraft, missile and space systems across many demanding application environments.

For the most demanding commercial and aerospace applications, the SDG1400 offers class-leading performance and stability in a small, rugged package. Utilizing an advanced Quartz MEMS inertial sensing element, it provides superior bias stability and repeatability.

The SDG1400 has no moving parts and exceptional MTBF performance. A commercial, off the shelf product, it gives fast start-up, very low noise and high bandwidth, making it ideal for critical applications in commercial and aerospace applications. The SDG1400 is completely self-contained and has a simple DC input, and high level DC output.

Featuring performance advantages over other gyros in its class, the SDG500 is a completely self contained angular rate sensor. Utilizing a Quartz MEMS inertial sense element housed in a compact, rugged aluminum case, it provides virtually unlimited life.

An on-board temperature sensor allows the user to enhance performance via thermal modeling and correction. With a simple DC input and high level DC output, the SDG500 will integrate quickly and simply into your designs.

The QRS14 is an exceptionally capable solid-state gyroscope expressly designed for use in a broad range of applications. Featuring solid-state quartz MEMs technology, this unit combines excellent vibration, noise, and virtually unlimited life. Enclosed in a compact housing, the QRS14 provides a DC voltage input, analog DC voltage output proportional to the rotational rate. The QRS14 is available in two different model variations, with either a positive or dual-power supply option.
The HORIZON™  gyroscope offers solid-state quartz MEMS technology enclosed in a compact housing ideally suited for use by Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM) and system integrators designing cost effective systems. This highly functional design provides high reliability yet is lightweight for easy board mounting and integration into a wide variety of specifc applications and packaging requirements. The HORIZON™  features excellent vibration performance, low noise and long life reliability. A high level analog voltage output signal, proportional to an angular rate input, is provided by a single DC voltage input.
