Photoconductive Infrared Detectors

PbS (SCD-13) and PbSe (SCD-15) Detectors

Cal Sensors has developed and is a volume producer of photoconductive lead sulfide (PbS) and lead selenide (PbSe) infrared detectors / Infrared Sensors which cover the 1 µm to 5.5 µm spectral region.

Our SCD-13 and SCD-15 IR detectors are manufactured via well established and superbly controlled processes, and because of their proven performance, have become the infrared detectors of choice by most system manufacturers worldwide.

    Multi-Color Detector Assemblies : Multi-Color Coplanar Detector Assemblies

    Specifically designed and manufactured for a number of non-dispersive IR gas analyzer applications, multi-color coplanar detector assemblies are an attractive design alternative for systems operating in multiple IR wavelengths or with space constraints in the detector focal plane area.

    Cal Sensors multi-color coplanar detector assemblies typically consist of two or more customer specified spectral filters mounted in a filter holder that minimizes optical crosstalk between channels. The filter holder assembly is coupled to the corresponding number of LMA-13R and/or LMA-15R detectors which are mounted side by side on either the package header (uncooled) or TE cooler cold plate (for cooled detectors).

    MCD Arrays

    Arrays to 64 Elements - LMA-13R & PbSe

    LMA-13R and LMA-15R arrays are used in numerous applications such as position sensing, thermal imaging and spectroscopy in the 1 µm to 6 µm spectral region.
     

    Cal Sensors automated chemical deposition processes and array processing techniques consistently produce the most uniform high performance lead salt arrays in the industry. Quadrant, linear and staggered linear arrays of virtually any configuration are produced with element sizes as small as 50 µm and spacing as narrow as 25 µm.

    64 Elements

    Uncooled or TE cooled LMA-13R and LMA-15R arrays provide more than adequate performance for many applications, and are easily packaged in low cost and reliable packages which are readily interfaced with signal processing electronics.

LMA Arrays

LMA-15S Cal Sensors multiplexed LMA-15R array with 256 elements, each pixel is 40 microns square on 50 micron centers making the array ideal for thermography and thermal imaging applications in the 1 to 5 micron wavelength region.

LMA-13R Array — Cal Sensors' multiplexed LMA-13R array has 256 elements in a low-profile industry standard package. Each pixel is 40 microns by 450 microns on 50 micron centers making the array ideal for infrared spectroscopy in the 1 to 3 micron region. Each pixel incorporates dark current subtraction and signal integration, all under digital control.

LMA-15R Array — Cal Sensors' multiplexed LMA-15R array offers the same features as the multiplexed LMA-13R array but with an extended wavelength to 5 microns.

Development System — The development system contains everything you need to get started quickly with the multiplexed array. All hardware and software is provided to take data from the array through a standard USB port.

A simple way to gain experience with Cal-Sensors 256 Element LMA Array in a convenient Windows/USB interface.

The development system is simple to use, providing freedom to experiment with the various settings of the system from a convenient Windows 98 or higher interface program. The components of the development system can then be used within your system, saving development time and expense.

Steady State Emitters

Cal Source SA-series infrared (IR) emitters are designed to be used as steady state (DC) emitters of blackbody radiation. The radiating element in the steady-state emitters is a coiled filament of a Cal Sensors specific material with a specialized coating to give an emissivity of 0.70. Radiated output closely emulates a blackbody in spectral distribution. SA-series emitters are designed to operate at a rated filament temperature of 1170° Kelvin.Standard SA-series emitters are offered in several models with specific filament diameters and number of coils to provide the desired input/output power at a filament temperature of 1170 ° K. Standard window materials are available to tailor the output to specific wavelength ranges of interest. Standard models include a parabolic reflector to provide near collimated and uniform radiation output. Without a reflector the radiating element approximates an isotropic point emitter.
