The very low-priced H8/300L-series microcontrollers are excellent 8-bit solutions for improving the performance of highly cost-sensitive designs, including applications that might otherwise have to use 4-bit chips. The MCU offer useful peripheral sets (some have LCD controllers and drivers); has very low power consumption; and provides up to 1.0-MIP performance with an internal operating frequency of up to 8 MHz (125-ns minimum instruction execution time). They have a 32-kHz subclock with 7 power modes, a 64-KByte address range, and a 1.8-V to 5.5-V supply range. Peripherals include an A/D, watchdog timer (WDT), PWM, and SCI (UART). Versions are available with up to 60-KBytes of on-chip flash memory.
