TACS is an Acronym for Total Access Communications System, originally a European analog FM cellular system. ETACS or Extended TACS is an extended frequency band for the original TACS; NTACS or Narrow TACS uses a narrower channel spacing for increased number of channels in the same bandwidth. TACS still finds use in China, and there is some NTACS in Japan.
NMT is an acromym for Nordic Mobile Telephone. NMT was one of the first successful analog telephones systems. In addition to a system operating at 900 MHz, there is also a 450 MHz version.
