CT2 (2nd generation cordless telephone) can be viewed as an evolution of the present cordless telephone (CT1). A digital cordless telephone standard, CT2 can be used for conventional cordless telephones, for Telepoint service, and for cordless PABX. System benefits include low power handsets for low cost, a digital radio link for high speech quality, digital call management for improved security, and the ability to support multiple handsets from a single base station. Originally a European standard, CT2 standard has found acceptance in Asia and North America as well.
