Description:
SMR is an acronym for Specialized Mobile Radio. SMR encompasses many private radio networks, including public service applications such as police and fire, as well as commercial applications such as taxis and private industrial radio systems. Also included in this classification are the so-called "land mobile" applications at 150, 400, and 900 MHz.
The majority of these networks use analog transmission. Many operate from 12 volt batteries (car batteries) and may broadcast at relatively high (50 W or greater) power levels. There is a trend towards more portable mobile units using digital modulation, especially in the 900 MHz bands in the U.S. Logically such radios would where possible make use of components designed for cellular markets.

Most systems use the same product set as 900 MHz ISM
