Function: |
Adjusts the gain of an amplifier chain, often to prevent overdrive of components downstream from the VGA. VGAs are common in systems that need to handle a wide range of signal levels. |

Products |

1. gain stages plus PIN diode attenuators (constant P out as gain decreases) |
| |
2. IVA-05, IVA-14 (Power decreases as gain decreases)
|
| |
These ICs combine a Gilbert cell-based amplifier followed by an active attenuator to form a variable gain amplifier. Full gain is provided when no control voltage is applied. These amplifiers also have very good limiting properties, and have proven extremely useful in fiber optic receivers.

3. HMMC gain stages plus attenuators (millimeter wave, instrumentation)
|
| |
4. HPMX-3002 (Power control for 800 - 900 MHz frequency range) |
