Function:
mix down converter
mix up converter
shifts frequency of operation.

A junction of a BJT or FET can be used to produce a "single diode" unbalanced mixer for frequency conversion, typically with higher gain and lower NF than provided by passive diodes.

Operation: Bias at turn-on input matched to S11* output matched to S22*

Key Parameters NF: 2 to 20 dB
and ranges: Conversion Gain: 0 to 15 dB
  I IP3: -20 to +10 dBm

Alternatives:

Integrated Circuit Mixers
Discrete Schottky Diodes
