Ic max - small signal [mA] space
    space                                                                                 space

What:
The maximum current rating is one of the best indicators of the "size" of a bipolar transistor. A higher rating equates to a higher output power capability; a lower rating indicates lower power and usually indicates higher gain as well (usually coupled with lower stability). P 1dB (output power at 1 dB gain compression, or "linear power capability") is directly related to I max.

Direction:
needs to fit application

Range:
5 mA to several 100 mAs for small signal transistors
100 mA to multiple Amperes for power transistors
