New Trimedia IC wins byte's best multimedia hardware award at cebit '97

Philips Semiconductors' new TriMedia TM-1000 media processor has been awarded "Best Multimedia Hardware" in Byte magazine's third annual 'best of show' awards at CeBIT '97 in Hannover, Germany. The TM-1000 media processor brings broadcast quality video, high fidelity multi-channel audio, and photorealistic interactive graphics to the personal computer.

Cees Hartgring, General Manager for the TriMedia project at Philips Semiconductors, commented, "We are delighted that the TriMedia TM-1000 has received this prestigious accolade from Byte. It supports what our customers have been saying about TriMedia being a truly world beating design."

As the TM-1000 is now shipping in volume, products that are based on it, such as videophones and PC add-in cards, are anticipated to be available within a few months.
