Philips Semiconductors, the largest European semiconductor company, has appointed Pascal Ode as European Market Segment Manager for Identification technology. Mr Ode, who brings more than 10 years of industry experience to the regional sales organisation, will be based in Paris, France. "This is an exiting step in my career, especially with our recent rise to eighth largest semiconductor supplier in the world*", stated Pascal Ode. "Philips Semiconductors is a leader in identification technology and the goal of our team is to be innovation advisors and provide a competitive edge for our customers and partners." Pascal Ode, who is 40 and of French origin, joined Philips Semiconductors in December 1997, first working as Sales Office Manager in France before taking on the additional responsibility of Multimedia Products in May 1998. Before joining Philips Semiconductors, Pascal worked for Schneider SA in the UPS Division (Computer peripherals), where he was responsible for improving the European Operations. Prior to Schneider SA, Pascal worked for ST Microelectronics. Philips Semiconductors, a division of Royal Philips Electronics, headquartered in Eindhoven, The Netherlands, is the eighth largest semiconductor supplier in the world (according to Dataquest's preliminary 1998 ranking by sales). Philips Semiconductors is a leader with a proven reputation in the development and production of cryptocontroller and contactless smart card ICs as well as in components for radio frequency identification.
